Gay and lesbian couples adopting

http://www.adoptivefamilies.com/articles.php?aid=2321/

Adopting kids for same-sex couple.

It just get more and more usual for gay or lesbian couples to adopt. In 2009 the percentage was on 19, in 2000 it was only eight. Research showes that about 65000 kids lives in homes with parents either gay or lesbian. But it hasn't always been this way. Not to long ago, gay or lesbian couples was not allowed to adopt, they didn't "fit" what was going to be a "normal" family. A mom, dad and kids. Any it really doesn't make any sense, why shouldn't people who love each other be able to adopt if they can't have kids themselves? If the case was a woman and man, they would be able to adopt right away if they had enough money and all that stuff. I mean, gay and lesbian people are worth the exact same thing as you. They are humans, they have wants and needs. It they want a kid, let them have a kid. It's as easy as that.

Teenage smoking

http://thetimes-tribune.com/opinion/boost-fight-on-teen-smoking-1.1548853

Teenage smoking, in my view, gets more and more usual. Flavored cigarettes and cigars are made, just for teens. They think its ''cool'', so they try mostly because mutual friends does it. You get addicted, and now you are a loser. The percentage has declined, but hey, its easy to say you dont smoke even if you do. In Pennsylvania almost 19% of high school students smoke, that is not a good percentage. One big reason why it is so high in Pennsylvania though, is that it is no tax on cigarettes. So it is a lot cheaper. In Florida the percentage is down at 8.6, way lower than Pennsylvania's. But studies also show, that teens who don't smoke before the age of 18, are most likely to never do it. So put down that cigarette, and just dont. It isnt healthy for you, and doesnt help you with anything. Dont be a smoker, dont be one in those percentages.

Obama disappoints, again.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/12/18/fox-news-poll-obama-ends-year-with-majority-disapproving/

I think a lot of people in the nation of U.S agrees that Obama ends 2013 with disappointment, not to himself but to the people. More than 50% disapprove of his job this year. More than half the nation. The percentage is only going down, percentage of people approving, percentage of people voting.

Obama still battered by negative polls media coverage.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/12/18/no-christmas-present-obama-still-battered-by-negative-polls-media-coverage/

Clearly Obama is not one of the most popular person in the U.S right now, polls are constantly talking about him in media. His 43 % approval rating isn't as low as in some recent polls, but some other questions are more telling. Like the cycle going on from the White house point of view: Obama gets burned in media, his decline is certified in media polls which brings him even more negative coverage. Everyone can feel the heat going on, what have the president actually accomplished this year?

Teen pregnancy

http://www.metrowestdailynews.com/opinions/editorials/x2082728341/Editorial-Progress-on-teen-pregnancy

The editorial tells us about different numbers to explain how teen pregnancy rates has gone down in the U.S. That today not as many girls between 15 and 19 get kids as they did in the 1990s. How it is a "problem" having a child early, since many mothers don't finish high school or know what to do. That kids with young mothers without graduating from high school is more likely to get jailed or have a teen pregnancy themself. But it is also important to say that the editorial make sure to say that not every teen pregnancy is like this. Personally I feel that you shouldn't have a kid without any graduations. You don't have anything to work with when your child is in kindergarten or at school. But there is also good mothers, mothers that has finished high school and know what she wants. She gives her baby whatever it needs and she can continue her education when the baby grows up. If you can't give your baby what it needs, don't get pregnant. It will feels like a burden on your shoulders, following you trough your entire life. And if you get pregnant and can't go trough with an abortion, consider adoption. It is a good alternative.

Animals test is a concern

http://www.nzherald.co.nz/bay-of-plenty-times/opinion/news/article.cfm?c_id=1503346&objectid=11104782

The editorial talks about how wrong it is to test legal highs on animals. How it is so wrong it is doing it on humans but on animals it is okay? I agree with this man, personally I think it is very wrong using any animals to testing. Different make-up brands use animals for their testing, and I don't a single product from any brands that does this. This is wrongs, let animals be animals. Not for testing!

Abortion

In the editorial i read the writer talk about abortion. He thinks that abortion should be legal, that everyone should have the opportunity to take an abortion in a healthy way and that it shouldn't be a thing you get judged from.

I agree with him. I feel like if abortion were illegal, people would do like they did before. Preform abortion themselves, by hurting each other, punching each other. Everything for the baby to die. Isn't it better if the baby at least die in a good way? That is not dangerous for the mom? I think so. Everyone should have the chance for a abortion if they need one.

Felons hired as Obamacare ``navigators``?

Health and Human services secretary Kathleen Sebelius admitted Wednesday that it was possible convicted felons could be hired as Obamacare ``navigators``, which meant giving them access to personal information, also inside of secret service.
The hearing lasted nearly three hours and Sebelius again tried shouldering the blame of the rocky rollout, also known as Obamacare.

School Uniforms

The article talk about how great it is with school uniforms because there are never trouble in the morning figuring out what to wear. And i personally kind off agree with this. I think that in some schools where bullying is a major problem you should put everyone in a uniform. That way its not as easy as before, telling someone how ugly their clothes are or how poor anyone look because of what they are wearing. But i wouldnt personally like it, i am happy that i can choose what to wear by my self, but i also feel like when you grow past an age you should be mature enough not to care about what people say about you, even though it can be hard.

Unhealthy new trend

http://www.keloland.com/newsdetail.cfm/experts-call-thigh-gap-an-unhealthy-trend/?id=155624

A new trend among teenagers is the so called ¨¨thigh gap¨¨, that is the space between your thighs. it is really unhealty, and for a lot of people, it is impossible to make this happen in any healty way. every girl have a different type of body, and many body types are made so the butt and thigh are larger than some other girls. it doesnt mean that any girl are somehow more healty or thinner than you, its just how their body is built.

Gay marriage

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/16/opinion/seeking-the-riches-of-gay-marriage.html?_r=0

The editorial above me is about the rights for gay and lesbian couples to get married. Mayor R. T. Rybak of Minneapolis opened the doors of City Hall to gay couples on Aug. 1, just as the state’s new same-sex marriage law took effect. He married 46 couples that first day, and I think it's great. It shouldn't be any differences on people who get married because everyone is worth as much as anyone else, no matter who you love.

Bullying

The editorial I read talk about bullying and how it affect people throughout life. And I totally agree. It's hard. Being judged, pushed, teased and talked about. It's hard pretending that nothing is wrong. Because, we all know that almost no one tell anyone about the bullying. The article also talk about how we can fix this problem, and I would like to start by saying that some schools have to step up. In a lot of situations scared kids have actually tried to tell an adult or a teacher, but he/she wasn't believed because there is no proof. Suicide happens all over the world because of bullying, and I'm not blaming parents or anyone but in a lot of cases things could have ended differently if somebody believed and stepped up for the Kid.

Congress Dives, Anti-Incumbency Soars in Deep Post-Shutdown Criticism

Polling of Americans show that approval for the government and the way its being run is at a record low. The polls show that a meager 12% approve of the government's shutdown, while a staggering 85% disapprove. Further polling shows that support for incumbents has taken a huge dive as well, with only 25% planning to reelect and 66% saying they are going to "look around" when selecting a new representative to support. Most of the blame seems to have landed on Republican shoulders by 53%, compared to 29% blaming other parties.
All that said, it doesnt mean incumbents wont stay in office, public opinion tends to change, as these poll results reflect closely to the polls taken in January 1996 when Bill Clinton vs the Republicans shutdown the government. The Republicans held onto congress while Clinton got reelected, the same could happen next November, when Americans go to vote they may have forgotten about the shutdown, in light of some new pressing crisis. That said, there is still widespread criticism, as both Republican and Democratic parties took a major hit in popularity according to the polls. With President Obama's numbers staying relatively the same, 46% disapprove, 52% approve.

6th-grade girl sent home with a ''fat letter''.

'' Florida state laws mandating health screenings at school are sparking controversy after an athletic sixth-grader was sent home with a letter saying she had an “at-risk” body mass index and therefore was overweight. ''

Do you really believe that you should send a letter like that home with your child? It is a serious problem because the overweight problem in America is getting bigger and bigger. What can you do about this? Keep your children away from anything unhealthy? Make sure your children are always doing something to be active? It shouldn't be like this. Let kids be kids and deal with overweight if it becomes really too much. A few pounds over the normal weight is not dangerous.
